Dixie Power is Your Community Partner
Dixie Power Kite Festival
The Dixie Power Kite Festival is held each April and is designed to promote reading as a habit and to encourage students to engage in family-oriented physical activity. Qualifying students earn a high-quality kite, a book, or tickets to the attractions for their reading efforts. In addition to kite flying, there are food booths, entertainment, rides and booths with kites and books for sale. There is plenty to do and see for everyone!
Additionally, proceeds are donated to the Washington County School Foundation for distribution to elementary schools most actively involved in the Kite Festival’s literacy programs.
Dixie Power Blood Drive
Dixie Power saves lives by hosting Southern Utah’s largest blood drive! Each year, Dixie Power members and employees, along with community members, come together to donate blood and make a life-saving difference. We have a goal of donating at least 500 units of blood each year!
Annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Tree Light Show
We bring the community together each year at our Annual Dixie Power Christmas Tree Lighting, a magical evening filled with hot chocolate, donuts, a Santa visit, candy canes, and holiday cheer, all for FREE!
Once the tree is officially lit, all season the community can be mesmerized by the area’s largest tree light show set to music.
URECA Co-op Day of Service
Every year, our entire company rolls up our sleeves for the URECA Co-op Day of Service. We are proud to serve Southern Utah not only with reliable power but through hands-on service and heartfelt appreciation for our neighbors.
A few of our favorite service projects have been: delivering Crumbl cookies to everyday heroes, road clean up, and working at the Utah Food Bank.
Operation Round-Up Donations
Members can round up their bill and Dixie Power donates the extra amount to community organizations. By participating, members contribute an estimated $6.00 per year–a small amount to help worthy causes within our community. If all 30,000 members of Dixie Power participated, it is estimated $180,000 would be contributed annually.
Operation Round-Up funds have assisted local non-profit, charitable organizations such as:
Doctor’s Volunteer Clinic, Habitat for Humanity of Southwest Utah, Switchpoint CRC, Iron County Care & Share, Salvation Army, Coins for Kids, New Castle Cemetery, Dove Center, Dixie Area Detention, Washington & Iron County Children’s Justice Centers
CoBank Sharing Success Donations
Through charitable contributions, CoBank works to make life better in rural communities across the country. CoBank does this through Sharing Success, an annual fund that matches Dixie Power’s contributions to community organizations. Sharing Success donations are given for specific projects that will help the community, such as:
Enterprise High, Millard High, Desert Hills High, Crimson Cliffs High, Little Valley Elementary, President Millard Fillmore Library
Unclaimed Capital
Credits Donations
Capital Credits belong to our members. When refunds are issued, we make multiple attempts to contact members using their last known mailing address and any updated contact information on file. We encourage members to keep their addresses up to date so their refunds can be delivered without delay.
If, after repeated efforts, we are unable to locate the member, the funds are placed in our Unclaimed Capital Credits fund. These funds are then used to support heat assistance, senior scholarships, and other local community projects.
Schools: Utah Tech University, Crimson Cliff High, Desert Hills High, Dixie High, Enterprise High, Millard High, Beaver Dam Elementary, Bloomington Hills Elementary, Enterprise Elementary, Escalante Valley Elementary, Riverside Elementary
Community: Dixie Power Kite Festival, Jubilee of Trees, St. George Musical Theater, St. George Lions, Southern Utah Heritage Choir
Energizing the Holidays
Each December, community members nominate families in need of energizing this holiday season. We also collect community donations and then match those donations! We present checks to families before Christmas and together, we energize the holidays for families in need.
High School Senior Scholarships
We invest in our graduating seniors each year through our High School Senior Scholarship Program, helping local students pursue higher education and achieve their dreams. We believe supporting education is one of the most powerful ways to energize the future.
Youth Leadership
Challenge
We empower the next generation through the URECA Michael F. Peterson Youth Leadership Challenge and scholarship program, helping students develop leadership skills, confidence, and community involvement, along with the chance to earn scholarships.
School Presentations
Energize your school with Dixie Power’s enlightening electrical safety presentation! These expert-led sessions spark curiosity and empower students with essential safety knowledge, ensuring a safer and more informed school community.
Dixie Power offers one safety demonstration each year to the 4th grade class at elementary schools located on the Dixie Power system.
